A retail group's forty product teams already package their services as Helm charts and deploy them with Kubernetes tooling to clusters in the group's own data centres. Moving to AWS, the platform team wants to keep the Kubernetes manifests, Helm and the same operators unchanged, but stop running the Kubernetes control plane themselves. Web traffic for many services should arrive through a managed HTTP load balancer that routes by host name and path to the right service, and the teams' shared relational data must sit in a MySQL-compatible database that replicates across three Availability Zones and fails over quickly.
