An online fashion retailer serves its storefront, a single-page app, from S3 through CloudFront to shoppers worldwide. The design team wants to test a redesigned homepage on ten percent of visitors, and each visitor must keep seeing the same version on every visit so the results are not muddled. The decision about which version to serve has to be made before the request reaches the origin, without adding a round trip to a server in one Region, and it must not slow the site for anyone. Both versions stay cached at the edge, and marketing wants to change the split later without redeploying the website.
